My mother-in-law is just now reaching the point where she requires quite a bit of assistance with daily tasks such as getting dressed and undressed, housekeeping, driving, stuff like that. My wife and I think she would benefit from living in an assisted living facility. Will medicare cover the cost of assisted living?

Unfortunately, Medicare does not cover assisted living. The coverage for any long term care under Medicare is very limited.
However, Medicare will cover some short term stays in a skilled nursing facility, or rehabilitation facility while recovering from illness or surgery.
Some states have a Medicare program that may cover some assisted living costs in certain participating facilities.
