I think my geriatric care manager is padding her bills

Posted by: isalind on 5/15/2011 4:40:11 AM

I hired a gcm to help with my elderly father, as I live far away, but she responds to every little thing like it is an emergency and charges accordingly. When I pointed it out to her, she said I had to trust her and that we were a team. Yes, she does what she likes and I pay for it. Anyone else experience that?

I fired a GCM company because I felt they were misbilling. There was a nurse who billed over 2-4 hours a few times (@$175/hour) when I was assured by an at home aide and my Mom that she had not been there more than one hour.

We are about to settle on the final bill but it was so egregious... I know pretty much how you feel.

And, to make matters even a bit worse, they were pretty nasty in trying to collect (although, in fairness, the organization trying to collect probably were told a different story..)
